New Cycle Trail

A CYCLE trail will be named after one of the council's longest serving employees in recognition and appreciation of his services to the borough.
The cycle trail will be named David Brough Cycle Trail after Hillingdon Council's former head of democratic services and now freeman of the borough.
The two kilometre trail will be officially opened on Tuesday(24) at Bayhurst Woods in Ruislip and is the first in a series of family friendly cycle trails in the borough.
Mr Brough said: "I'm really honoured that the council is naming this after me. As a committed cyclist I think the scheme is really important to get more people cycling, in particular young people, for health and environmental reasons.
"I really like the idea of aiming it at young people and families and it being off-road, because some people think that's a problem with cycling - it's too dangerous."
Mr Brough joined Hillingdon Council in 1969 and later became head of democratic services before retiring in September last year.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Ray Puddifoot, said: "David Brough dedicated many years of his life to working for the council and serving residents of the borough.
"As he is a keen cyclist it is appropriate that we recognise this service with the naming of a cycle trail in his honour. I hope the trail allows many families to enjoy the benefits of cycling as well as the beauty of Bayhurst Woods."
