A JEWELLERY shop has been hit by smash and grab thieves just months after they were targeted by armed robbers.
CS Bedford in High Street, Ruislip, was robbed yesterday evening (Tuesday) by a group of men yielding sledgehammers and axes.
Rob Ungar, one of the directors at the shop, said: "At about 5pm a silver car pulled up outside the shop.
"I was outside showing a client some jewellery through the window and I noticed three or four guys wearing balaclavas in the car.
"The customer decided it was best not to hang around and I went inside the shop and shut the door.
"I was just trying to make sure my staff were okay because they were very shaken up last time we got robbed.
"The men proceeded to head towards the window with sledgehammers and axes. They made a small home in the window, but they only managed to get 10 watches.
"They were prevented from stealing more because I put the shutter down. It was a botched robbery.
"These guys were very professional though. They got out of the car and didn't make a noise. They just walked up to the window and smashed it, but they left two of their tools behind."
The shop was targeted by armed robbers in May who managed to get away with about £250,000 worth of watches after holding a gun to the owner's head.
Mr Ungar said: "It's open season on jewellers. A lot have been hit recently."
