Ruislip Waitrose urges more nominations for charity scheme

A SUPERMARKET wants to donate more money to local causes as part of a new scheme.

Every month Waitrose in Kingsend, Ruislip, donates £1,000 between three local organisations as part of the new giving initiative, Community Matters.

The scheme enables customers to nominate the local organisations they want to receive the money and then every time they shop in the store they are given a token to place into one of three tubes - one for one each organisation.

At the end of the month the tokens are weighed and the £1,000 is split between them accordingly.

However, while a lot of national charities have taken advantage of the scheme, not enough smaller and more local ones have and the supermarket wants to urge more people to come in and nominate.

In March the nominees are Willow Tree Guides Centre for new mattresses, A.C.T.A Downs Down Syndrome support for sports coaching, and Ickenham Festival.

Waitrose in Maxwell Road, Northwood, is also running the scheme.

We'd like to hear from you.
