Former drug dealer jailed for lying about Ruislip hit-and-run

A FORMER crack cocaine dealer has been jailed for lying about the fact he killed someone in a hit-and-run.

Sebastian Jansco, 23, hit 67-year-old Sid Irons and left him for dead in Victoria Road, South Ruislip, on January 4 last year.

He tried to cover up his guilt by getting his car repaired and then hiding it, but when parts of the brand new Audi were found at the scene police traced it back to him.

Unemployed Jansco, of Victoria Road, Ruislip Manor, was on licence after being released early from a 33-month sentence for possession of crack cocaine with intent, when he hit Mr Irons.

When police questioned him about the hit-and-run he said a drug dealer had taken his car earlier that day for not paying a debt and therefore he could not have been driving the car.

He even got two of his friends, Raphael Baragwanath, 22, of Field End Road, Eastcote, and James Davies, 19, who now lives in Buckinghamshire, to make false witness statements for him.

He was jailed for two and a half years at Harrow Crown Court on Friday after pleading guilty to two counts of conspiring to obstruct the course of justice and one count of doing an act intended to pervert the course of justice.

Baragwanath, the son of a former police officer, was jailed for nine months and Davies for six months after pleading guilty to one count of conspiring to obstruct the course of justice.

The recorder, Miss Greenberg, said: "The offences committed by all three of you strike at the very heart of the administration of justice.

"Your behaviour would have added to the anguish suffered by the family of Mr Irons who so tragically lost his life."

Jansco will serve one and a half years of his sentence in custody before being released on licence for the remainder of it. Baragwanath and Davies will serve half of their sentences before being released on licence.

We'd like to hear from you.

2 and a half years, only serving 1 and a half, absolutely disgusting, considering he killed someone very special, run from the scene and perverted the course of justice, what is this country coming to, I feel sick with anger. Im totally gobsmacked.

My thoughts and best wishes go to Sids Family, I knew sid well from the Black bull, the place wont be the same without him.

we used to live next door to Sid and his family, I'm so glad that they've got the people responsible, but i'm disgusted with the sentence.
Sid was a good man, husband, father, and grandfather. he deserved justice.
