A MAN accused of stealing £450 worth of meat from a hotel will appear at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on December 22.

Michael Neil Dunne, 41, of Warsaw Close, Ruislip, allegedly took the meat from Thistle Hotel in Bath Road, near Heathrow Airport, after entering the kitchen as a trespasser.

He has yet to enter a plea and has been ordered not to enter any hotel or hotel car park in England while the case continues. He is also on curfew from 9pm to 7am.

A PENSIONER charged with 10 sexual offences against children will be committed to crown court.

John Michael Simpson, 62, of Station Approach, South Ruislip, allegedly committed the offences against girls aged from 12 to 14, between February 25, 2007 and June 30 this year.

He will appear at Isleworth Crown Court on Wednesday (2) to enter a plea and has been ordered not to let a female below the age of 18 into his home while the case continues.

THE approval of an application to turn a listed barn into an entertainment venue has infuriated the residents who have to put up with the noise and people urinating outside.

On Friday (13) Hillingdon Council's licensing sub-committee approved an application submitted by the council for a premises licence for the sale of alcohol and entertainment at the Great Barn in Bury Street, Ruislip.

FRIENDS and family members of a seven-year-old girl who has a life-threatening form of cancer are trying to raise £300,000 so she can receive critical treatment in America.

Robyn Higgins, who used to live in Willow Grove, Ruislip, before moving to Surrey last year, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in May.

A RUISLIP man has been jailed for harassing an elderly woman on a social networking site.

Alan George Spark, 59, of Acorn Grove, pleaded guilty to sending two messages on Facebook from a house in Southcote Rise, Ruislip, on October 16 and 17.

He was prohibiting from doing this by a restraining order imposed by Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on February 15, 2006.

At the court on October 28 he was jailed for six months for the offence.

The aggravating factors in the case which lead to the custodial sentence were multiple breaches of the restraining order, a vulnerable 88-year-old victim and the fact he showed no remorse.

To try and combat the rise in bullying on the internet, Facebook have launched safety tips as part of this year's National Anti-Bullying Week, which started on Monday (16).

The theme of the week is cyber-bullying, which is the most common type of bullying after name calling, a recent study by the Department for Children, Schools and Families has revealed.

The five tips are: only accept friends you know, block people who are abusive, report trouble directly to Facebook, keep your information private and don't react to bullies - block, report or delete them.

GET ready to don your skates and do your best impressions of Torvill and Dean as Hillingdon's very own ice rink opens to the public for the second year.

The rink, outside the civic centre in High Street, Uxbridge, will open from next Friday (27) until January 3, 2010.

Last year, more than 13,000 people of all ages visited the rink during the festive period.

Councillor Henry Higgins, cabinet member for culture, sport and leisure, said: "The ice was a great success last year and proved popular with residents and visitors alike.

"People came from across the borough and beyond to enjoy the ice rink and we look forward to hopefully welcoming even more people this year to enjoy it again."
