SIXTY-SIX new homes will be built on the former Mill Works industrial site in Ruislip after plans were unanimously approved by councillors.

The existing buildings on the Bury Street site - which is part of the Ruislip Village Conservation Area - were used for manufacturing purposes in the Second World War, but have been derelict for some time.

They will be demolished to make way for 30 apartments in two three-storey blocks, and 36 semi-detached houses.


ST MARTIN'S in Ruislip will be hosting a lunchtime concert tomorrow (24) at 12.15pm in the church hall.

Pianist Jessica Chan will perform the music of Bach, Brahms and Chopin. Admission free, with a retiring collection for expenses.

A man accused of shoplifting and causing actual bodily harm is due to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on Thursday to enter a plea.

Andre Burrowes, of Field End Road, Ruislip, is said to have assaulted Michael Thomas in Victoria Road on January 25.

He has also been charged with stealing an LCD TV worth £180 from Comet in the same road on the same day.

AN ARREST warrant has been issued for a man charged with failing to comply with his suspended sentence order.

Anthony Joseph McNamara, 41, of Glovers Grove, Ruislip, is accused of failing to keep in contact with his supervising officer after the order was made on September 11 last year.

He also allegedly failed to report for meetings on December 24 and 31 last year without reasonable excuse and did not provide acceptable written evidence within 10 days of his absence.

A 20-YEAR-OLD woman from Ruislip is one of four people arrested in connection with a series of distraction burglaries across the country.

THE RETIRED motor mechanic took part in the film after attending a residents' association meeting to complain about anti-social activity taking place around the back of his house.

THE refurbishment of the Grade II listed Highgrove House in Ruislip is set to drag on for another three years, after developers were given extra time to complete the project.

Permission to convert the 19th century property, in Eastcote Road, by demolishing the stable building and replacing it with 16 new homes, was originally granted in January 2007.
