Eastcote Christmas Festival was a huge success
REGULAR festival goers can usually expect mud, sweat and torrential rain. At Eastcote's festival it was an entirely different affair.
The annual Eastcote Christmas Festival was a huge success, with thousands of people enjoying the festive spirit of the day in Field End Road on Sunday.
Musicians performed on a giant stage set up in The Ascott pub car park, teenagers enjoyed funfair rides, and even Father Christmas made an appearance on the day at his grotto in Eastcote library.
A bustling craft market sold handmade Christmas gifts and decorations to savvy shoppers, with stalls selling mulled wine and mince pies helping to warm the crowds in the cold temperatures.
The Eastcote Christmas light switch on in the high street followed the candlelight parade, where the Mayor of Hillingdon led a procession along Field End Road with children and adults carrying candles and home made lanterns.
The four Banners of Faith also completed their journey around Eastcote during the parade.
For the past few weeks, scouts groups, sports clubs, businesses and local people have been sewing buttons on to the Christmas banners which will now be kept at St Lawrence Church, in Bridle Road, Eastcote.
